B.C. Lions Sign Former Kansas City Chiefs WR De’Anthony Thomas

NFL veteran WR De’Anthony Thomas scratched a deal with the B.C. Lions this week adding to their already dangerous WR core.

Thomas was drafted in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Kanas City Chiefs with the 124th overall pick. During his time with the Chiefs Thomas played in 61 games from 2014-to 2019 including the Super Bowl on both offense and special teams.

The 2017 season, his NFL debute, the Los Angeles native put up 1,156 receiving yards, 113 rushing yards, and a touchdown.

The next season Thomas would suit up for the entire 16 game regular season. In that 2017 NFL season, Thomas hauled in 14 receptions for 143 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

In October 2019, after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs, De’Anthony Thomas took to free agency and signed with the Baltimore Ravens. In that 2019 season, Thomas suited up for the final 8 games of the regular season including that AFC divisional round against the Tennessee Titans where he returned three kickoffs for 71 yards.

The 2020 NFL season was played through the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the league gave players the option of sitting out the season without breaking their contacts. Thomas took this opportunity and opted out of the season.

In January of 2021, the Baltimore Ravens released De’Anthony Thomas.

The veteran WR and kick returner will suit up for the 2022 CFL season with the B.C. Lions alongside fellow University of Oregon alumni Linebacker Boseko Lokombo.

The 2022 CFL season kicks off on June 9th and will continue through the fall.

The Lions are likely to remain in the basement of the West because they don’t address their quarterback situation. What about having Johnny Manziel reinstated.
