Bombers Are Looking For A New Offensive Coordinator…Nobody Should Be Surprised

For a lot of this year I said that the Bombers simply will not retain both their Offensive Coordinator, Jason Hogan; and Brady Oliveira. And while Hogan looks to be on the outside looking in, it does make one wonder if the Bombers will be able to retain Oliveira.

Bombers had issues with their offence and it stemmed from the play-caller: Paul Friesen reported the following, ”Training camp was tough this year, kind of a weird situation that we were put in,” Collaros said. “Repped a lot of things that we didn’t rep during the season. I didn’t get a lot of reps with guys who were playing.” So there should be zero surprise that it appears the Bombers are looking at a move in the offensive coordinator position!

The Bombers also reached out to Condell, “Condell’s nomadic CFL coaching career started in Winnipeg way back in 1997, when he was running the special teams under head man Jeff Reinebold, of all people…He’s held virtually every offensive position since, in both U.S. college football and in the CFL, with Hamilton (twice), Toronto and Ottawa, building a reputation as a passing game whiz. Condell and Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros are tight, having worked together in Hamilton, where Condell was the OC and receivers coach in 2014 and ’15.”

With the Bombers reaching out to (at least) 2 people to replace Hogan, it seems improbable that Hogan will return. Think about it. Even if the Bombers fall flat on these two initial conversations, how would you feel if you were Hogan? Knowing that the team is looking to replace you…would you return if they didn’t find someone right away? I would not.

So while the jury is still out on who will become the Bombers’ next offensive coordinator, it looks like there will be a change in that position for 2026…thank goodness!
