As the Hamilton Tiger-Cats prepare to face the Edmonton Elks during Week 16 of the 2025 CFL season, the Team is also making roster adjustments to ensure they are ready for a run to the playoffs. Earlier this week, the Tiger-Cats added five players to their practice roster in an effort to shore up some of their position groups that have recently been hit hard by injuries. Those new additions to the Tiger-Cats practice roster included running backs Marcus Yarns and Shane Watts.
Today, Hamilton continued to add reinforcements to high-needs position groups that have required the Tiger-Cats to make adjustments due to injuries. According to the CFL Transactions list, American offensive lineman Joey Lombard is the newest addition to the Tiger-Cats practice roster. Down the final stretch of the CFL season, the Tiger-Cats can never have too many offensive linemen, and a player with the potential of Lombardi is rare to find at any time during the season.
Lombard comes to the Hamilton after spending some time with the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the 2025 NFL season. Before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, Lombard played college football at the NCAA FCS South Dakota. While playing for the Coyotes, Lombard had the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the NCAA.
During his time at South Dakota, Lombard played in 40 games for the Coyotes from 2019 until 2023. Lombard was a starter on the South Dakota offensive line for 34 of those games. Lombard’s success at South Dakota should allow him to find a way to earn some playing time for the Tiger-Cats as they work to clinch 1st place in the East division, and work to return to another Grey Cup championship game.
