BC Lions Sign RB Tony Jones Jr., Former Notre Dame, NFL, and UFL

The BC Lions announced on Monday the signing of running back Tony Jones Jr. Jones played his collegiate ball with Notre Dame before spending time with the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. He played last year in the UFL with the Arlington Renegades.

RB Tony Jones Jr. – Notre Dame (5’11, 224 lbs)

Tony Jones Jr. played his college ball with Notre Dame, where he appeared in 37 games with 16 starts from 2016 to 2019. He rushed 271 times over his career for 1,481 yards (5.46 average) and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 27 passes for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns. His final year was his biggest as he started in 12 games and rushed 144 times for 857 yards (5.95 average) and 6 touchdowns while adding 15 receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown.

He signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and appeared in 1 game which saw him rush once for 13 yards. He played in 11 games for the Saints in 2022, rushing 54 times for 142 yards (2.63 average).

Jones played for 2 teams in 2022, appearing in 2 games with New Orleans and 4 with Seattle, rushing 10 times combined for 24 yards.

In 2023, Jones played in 4 games for New Orleans and 3 for Arizona after being cut by the Denver Broncos. He rushed 26 times for 95 yards (3.65 average) and 2 touchdowns in 2023.

Jones played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2024, rushing 4 times in 1 game for 55 yards (13.75 average) and a touchdown. Jones has played in 26 NFL regular-season games overall, during which he rushed 97 times for 329 yards (3.39 average) and 3 touchdowns. He has 17 NFL receptions for 96 yards.

He also played in 11 NFL preseason games, rushing 55 times for 291 yards (5.29 average) and 2 touchdowns, and adding 21 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown.

He most recently played for the Arlington Renegades in the UFL in 2025, where he was signed following the injury to Kalen Ballage. He played in 3 games for Arlington, rushing 17 times for 66 yards (3.88 average) and catching 3 passes for 13 yards.
