On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers took on the Arizona Cardinals in what ended up being a very lopsided game. Carolina won 34-10, handing Arizona just their second loss of this season. However, the team was without three of their best players in Kyler Murray, Deandre Hopkins, and Chase Edmonds.Â
Colt McCoy got his second start in a row as a replacement for Murray, but didn’t play well as the team trailed early. He left the game in the second half with what turned out to be a pectoral strain, which allowed former Blue Bomber Chris Streveler to get some reps.Â
Streveler only completed 6 of 9 passes for 36 yards and was sacked twice. He wasn’t able to run the ball well either, recording two carries for a measly four yards. Despite the game being mostly forgettable, it was still a notable matchup for alt. league fans, as former XFL quarterback PJ Walker was the opposing starter. Therefore, it became the unofficial CFL-XFL bowl, something that certainly isn’t seen very often.Â
The Cardinals are still being cautious with Murray, and they may choose not to play him before the team’s week 12 bye. If McCoy can’t get healthy over the next few days, there’s a chance Streveler could start against the Seattle Seahawks. More information will come out soon, and the story is certainly one to monitor.
