The Montreal Alouettes have brought back defensive lineman Jamal Davis II on a two-year deal. Davis had been on the Los Angeles Chargers roster since January but was recently waived by the Chargers prior to the start of the NFL regular season.
The 27 year old lineman played 9 games with the Alouettes in the 2021 season. He registered 17 defensive tackles, 4 sacks and a touchdown in his lone CFL season. Davis also played for several other NFL teams including the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts prior to joining the Alouettes in 2021. While in the NFL he spent his time on practice squads.
The addition of Davis to Montreal’s defensive line should give the Alouettes defense a shot in the arm as the playoffs near. Davis will have plenty of time to join the team and fit in with his new defensive teammates because the Alouettes are on a bye this week. The Alouettes next game will be at home against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday, September 23rd.
