The Edmonton Elks announced that they have re-signed National receivers, Tevaun Smith and Mike Jones. Both Torontonians were set to become free-agents in February 2022.
Mike Jones
In 2021, Jones had 29 receptions for 394 yards and 2 touchdowns. He appeared in 11 games. The 29-year-old, Canadian, stands 6’0″ and weighs 181 lbs. He made some electric catches in 2021, especially during the Labour Day game against Calgary. Jones played four years with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before joining the Elks for the 2021 season. He will add Canadian speed to the receiving corps providing QB Nick Arbuckle with a reliable possession receiver.
Tevaun Smith
In 2021, Smith had 27 receptions for 324 yards and 0 touchdowns. He appeared in 13 games. The 28-year-old, Canadian and University of Iowa alumni, stands 6’2″ and weighs 197 lbs. Smith will go into his third CFL professional season, which have all been with the Elks. The former Elks first round pick in the 2016 CFL Draft, Smith spent time in the NFL on practice rosters with the Colts, Raiders, and Jaguars. Smith can be a ratio breaker as he has extreme potential to compete for a starting position at the wide receiver position.
