After a busy day yesterday on the official opening day of the 2023 CFL Free Agency, the Edmonton Elks traded veteran Offensive Lineman Jesse Gibbon to the Montreal Alouettes.

In the deal, the Edmonton Elks will receive the Montreal Alouettes’ 2nd Round Pick for the upcoming 2023 CFL Draft.
Before the deal, the Edmonton Elks lead the league with the most picks for the 2023 CFL Draft at ten selections. Building the core through the draft will only benefit the Edmonton Elks moving forward.
On the flip side, the Montreal Alouettes obtain a veteran who can help anchor the battle in the trenches every week. The Hamilton, Ontario product has had success in his football career thus far. Not only is he a stable player on the line of scrimmage, but he has also logged a lot of minutes at his respected position.
Since arriving at the CFL via the University of Waterloo, he was selected by his hometown Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2019. Minus the cancelled 2020 CFL Season, he has played a total of 49 games. He was traded to the Edmonton Elks on September 2nd, 2022 along with a 2nd Round Pick in the 2023 CFL Draft. Part of the deal was that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats would obtain Offensive Lineman David Beard, along with 4th Round Pick in the 2023 CFL Draft.
Montreal Alouettes receive a player that will add a lot of value to their current roster.
