Goodbye Antlers, Welcome Back Double-E Helmets…Elks Return to Their Traditions

On March 3rd, 2022, the Edmonton Elks, after much fanfare brought back the traditional “EE” logo to their 2022 helmets. Throughout the week, the Elks teased fans with the eventual unveiling of a helmet designed to bring back tradition and culture to the Green & Gold.

Many fans have been upset since the Eskimos became the Elks. Fans felt the move was done without proper consultation and sensitivity to the traditions and history of Edmonton Football. This week, the Elks brought back an iconic logo with fanfare and class.

Jed Roberts, Elks Alumni and Friend of CFLNEWSHUB.COM Narrates the Helmet Unveiling on 3 March 2022.

I must say that I was very impressed with the marketing of the new helmet. We all need some CFL excitement in the dead of winter. I appreciate how President & CEO Victor Cui responded to the fans who felt the traditions and past of the Elks had been lost. Yes, its only a helmet. To be honest, the players could be wearing buckets on their heads…as long as they win games that’s all I need. Regardless, this was a classy move by the organization to bring back alumni, traditions, and excitement about football in Edmonton.

” I was humbled to the point of tears when I was asked to do the voice over for this.”

Jed Roberts, Elks Alumni on Twitter 3 March 2022

I will not miss the silly antler helmets. Most fans wont miss them either. What is exciting is that this organization is ready to become another dynasty. The dark days are behind this team. #AntlerUp #GoElks #Feartheherd Stay tuned, sources tell me that more big news is coming up in the next few weeks.
