Yesterday, the Edmonton Elks announced the signing of former NFL wide receiver, Martavis Bryant. A four-year veteran of the NFL, Bryant brings to the CFL, 2183 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns. Most of his success was during his 3 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2014 to 2017.
The Elks receiving corps continues to grow with big names such as Kenny Lawler, Adarius Bowman, Emmanuel Arceneaux, and Derel Walker. Bryant, who did not report to the Toronto Argonauts for the 2021 season will bring a 6’4″ and 210 lb frame to the Elks line-up for 2022. The former Clemson Tiger could become a deadly second option for QB Nick Arbuckle.
Herd Additions and Deletions
IN – Global Kicker, Wihan van der Reit who hails from South Africa, looks like a super-sized kicker. 6’1″ 220 lbs…he could do some damage on special teams chasing down returners. GM/Coach Chris Jones loves kickers who can tackle.
IN – Americans, Brandon Smith (O-Line) and DaQuaylyn Thomas (DB). Smith, stands a mere 6’8″ and tips the scale at over 300 lbs.
OUT – Adios & Au revoir, Global players Diego Viamontes (Mexico), Maxime Rouyer (France), and Tibo DeBaillie (Belgium). Viamontes was the first overall and first ever CFL draft pick in the Global Draft of 2019. He has been a wonderful member of the Edmonton community. He continues to run a wonderful speciality chocolate and coffee shop in Edmonton. Check out Ch Cafeteria, it’s a real gem of a cafe.
3/3/2022 – What will Victor Cui Unveil Now?
It looks like the Edmonton Elks will have a new helmet design for 2022. Likely, we will see the return of the EE on the helmet. Maybe Dwayne Mandrusiak returns to unveil the design? Tune in on Thursday!
