Montreal Alouettes Sign Canadian OL Sage Doxtater

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday the signing of Canadian offensive lineman Sage Doxtater.

Sage Doxtater played and started in 11 games with the Toronto Argonauts last season at left guard. He was a 2nd round pick for the Argos in the 2021 CFL Draft, but did not join the team until October 2024.

Doxtater had 48 starts at left tackle over 5 seasons with New Mexico State University during his NCAA career. He had very strong grades from Pro Football Focus over his collegiate career, with a pass blocking grade of 74 in 2021 and over 80 in each of the 2 previous seasons.

He signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2022.  He also spent time on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice roster.

Doxtater played in the XFL in 2023, where he started in 6 games, including the playoffs, at left tackle for the St. Louis Battlehawks.

With Doxtater’s capacity to start at left tackle, the Alouettes now have a real ability to potentially start a fully Canadian offensive line, should the need arise. Nick Callender remains the expected starter at left tackle for the Alouettes.
