Montreal Alouettes Sign DB Wesley Sutton Through 2026, DB Najee Murray Through 2025

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Tuesday the signing of defensive back Najee Murray for the 2025 season. On Wednesday they announced the signing of defensive back Wesley Sutton through the 2026 season. Both players were pending to become a free agent had a contract not been signed prior to the start of free agency.

“Najee worked hard last winter to come back strong this year.” Stated Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia. “He had an excellent season with us in 2024, and we are happy that he is returning to the team. He is a role model for our young players, both on and off the field. He is a very important piece of our defence.”

Najee Murray joined the Alouettes in 2018 and has since played in 47 games over which span he has recorded 163 tackles, 7 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and a sack. This past season he played in 11 games over which span he registered 44 tackles and had an interception in the playoffs.

“Wes Sutton is a true leader in our secondary.” State Alouettes’ General Manager Danny Maciocia. “His energy is contagious, and his enthusiasm pushes our other players to excel every game. This veteran understands our system, and we are looking forward to seeing him in 2025.”

Sutton has played and started in 48 regular season games for the Alouettes since joining the team in 2021.  He has recorded 200 tackles, 9 sacks, 5 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles, and a touchdown over that span.
