Montreal Alouettes Sign Former First Round Pick DL Anthony Bennett to 1-Year Deal

The Montreal Alouettes announced the signing of Canadian defensive lineman Anthony Bennett. Bennett was a first-round pick selected by Winnipeg 8th overall in 2023.

Bennett played in 18 games as a rookie which saw him record 8 tackles and added 3 special teams tackles. He was released ahead of the 2024 season and did not play last season.

Bennett was a highly touted prospect after he recorded 9 sacks in his final collegiate season in 2022 with the Regina Rams. He played in 14 games with the Rams over 2 seasons and recorded 63 total tackles, 11 sacks, 20 tackles for a loss, an interception, a forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 passes defended. He was the third highest-rated U-Sports prospect in the 2023 CFL Draft and 16th highest overall.

Bennett played for Florida Atlantic from 2015 to 2018 before transferring to Regina where he played in 2021 and 2022.
