Two CFL teams have made some recent signings that are definitely worth looking into. The two signees are experienced no doubt, which were also signed to teams in the NFL albeit briefly. All that and more in this piece.
The Toronto Argonauts sign Cole McDonald
As has also been reported by khon2.com, Cole McDonald has been signed by the Argos. This man played his ball with the Tennessee Titans and it was in 2020 that he was an official NFL draft pick in the seventh round; he subsequently played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans.
At 23 years old, he played his college ball in Hawaii (not a bad way to come up at all), but instead of sipping on cocktails on the beach, the man worked on his game, putting in for quite the stats in his college football career.
He was waived by the Cardinals on the 27th of May of this year. This opportunity comes at the right time and at this stage in his career he needs to make an impression moving forward, and the Argos just might be the right place for him to do just that, but of course time will tell. We certainly wish him luck.
Saskatchewan Roughriders sign linebacker, Michael Pinckney
As was reported by cfl.ca, Michael Pinckney has been signed by the Roughriders. He apparently attended training camp this summer and the team has decided to sign him based on his performance there, it would seem, as well as on his past performances, specifically at the University of Miami.
At the University of Miami, he started in 13 games with the team while playing his college ball, and he was an NFL undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2020, specifically on their practice roster.
His stats are impressive and definitely stand out, making him too, quite the acquisition for the Riders. For Miami, he made 267 tackles, 15 sacks, 42 tackles for loss, three interceptions, one fumble recovery and eight passes defended. As a senior in Miami, he was named second-team All-ACC, as well as many more accolades achieved by this promising young talent.
