The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced that American defensive tackle Miles Brown will remain with the team following a contract extension. The extension ensures that the formidable six-foot-two, 320-pound lineman will bring his on-field presence to the Roughriders for the upcoming season.
Brown, an instrumental part of the Roughriders’ defensive lineup, initially came on board in 2022. During his first season with the team, he participated in 13 games, recording 21 defensive tackles and clinching two sacks. Demonstrating improvement in the subsequent season, Brown tallied 22 tackles and doubled his sack count to four, all within 12 games.
Prior to his CFL career, Brown honed his skills at Wofford College. There, his consistent performance over four seasons and 50 games — 49 of which he started — earned him a solid reputation. Brown’s college career highlights included earning the prestigious first-team all-conference title for three consecutive years, a testament to his durability and skill on the field. By the end of his collegiate career, he had amassed a total of 174 defensive tackles, a significant 38 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, a pair of pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.
Although Brown went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, his professional journey began shortly thereafter as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals. In his rookie season, he participated in nine regular-season games, making four tackles. Subsequent short tenures with the Tennessee Titans in 2020 and the Detroit Lions in 2021 preceded his transition to the CFL.
As Brown prepares to continue his career with the Roughriders, fans can look forward to his contributions to the team’s defense as they take on their first game of the 2024 regular season. The kickoff is set for Saturday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET, where they will face the Edmonton Elks, marking the beginning of what promises to be another eventful CFL season.
