Schoen Ready To Make An Impact

You have to look way back to June of 2024 to see Dalton Schoen in action. At that time he suffered a season ending knee injury in the Bomber’s Week 3 loss to the BC Lions. Originally placed on the 6 Game Injured List, Schoen would not return in 2024, and boy did they miss him in the 2024 Grey Cup.

Bomber fans were pleased when Winnipeg signed Schoen in early 2024 before free agency. However, that exuberance would be short lived.

That was a big loss for the Bombers in 2024 when Schoen got injured. While they would end the season 11-7, and clinch first place in the West, the start of the season was rocky to say the least!

The Bombers would start the 2024 campaign by being blown out in both of their pre-season games. In a move that made sense to very few, Collaros would not take a single snap in those two losses. Then the Bombers would go on a four game skid to start the regular season. Winnipeg seemed wildly inconsistent in 2024 and in part that was due to the loss of their deep ball threat, Schoen.

Well, Schoen is back, Collaros could play in the pre-season, but Collaros will miss the first game of the season due to suspension.

We still do not know who the number two quarterback will be, but we do know that Schoen will likely be a favorite target, as he has proven dependable in past seasons.

Schoen told Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, “It was good to be out here in general, but then to connect on a deeper corner ball, which has kind of been my bread and butter up here over the last few years… It’s good,” said Schoen with a grin after practice Tuesday. “It feels like I’m back.”

So how much of an impact with Schoen make in the 2025 season? I am hoping we get a glimpse of that on Saturday afternoon wen the Bombers take on Saskatchewan in their first pre-season game of the year!
