Tiger-Cats Continue to Add Defensive Lineman by Signing Darrius Moragne

With the Tiger-Cats all set to take on the Ottawa Redblacks in their first pre-season game of the 2024 season, they are leaving no stone unturned in strengthening their defensive line. The latest addition to their Roster is American defensive lineman Darrius Moragne, as confirmed by the CFL Transactions list. The addition of Moragne follows the recent signing of defensive lineman Trevon Mason, which added depth and resilience to the Tiger-Cats’ defensive line during training camp.

Darrius Moragne, a 6’7″, 290-pound defensive end, hails from Holland, Michigan. As detailed in a press release from the UFL, his journey to Hamilton is a testament to his resilience and determination. He arrived in Hamilton just a day after being released by the Arlington Renegades of the UFL, bringing a wealth of experience and a hunger to prove himself.

In the Fall of 2023, Moragne signed a letter of intent with the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL, but when the XFL and USFL merged into the UFL, he was neither protected nor selected during the UFL’s player disbursement process. During the UFL free agency period, the Arlington Renegades signed Moragne.

Before signing with the Brahmas and eventually signing with the Renegades, Moragne played a season with the Jouster of The Spring League in 2021, and he also played for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL in 2022. Moragne helped the Jousters get to The Spring League’s championship game, the Megabowl, in which the Jousters lost 23 to 26 against the Lineman. In 2022, while playing for the Pittsburgh Maulers, Moragne recorded 16 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks,

Moragne played college football at Arizona Western Junior College in 2017 and the University of Kansas from 2018 until 2019. While at Arizona Western, Moragne played in 9 games and had 13 tackles and one quarterback sack. After transferring to Kansas, he played in 24 games and registered 45 tackles and 2.5 quarterback sacks.

Tiger-Cats Add LB Pavihi to the Single Game Injured List

During training camp, the Tiger-Cats have avoided having many injuries occur in practice. Unfortunately, Global linebacker Penei Pavihi has been added to the Single Game Injured List one day before the Tiger-Cats play their first pre-season game. The good news is that the native of American Samoa is only expected to miss one game and should have an opportunity to continue to compete for a spot on the Tiger-Cats 2024 roster.
