Montreal, September 28, 2021 – The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that running back William Stanback was named amongst the league’s players of the week.
The 27-year-old Hempstead, N.Y. native ran 19 times for 133 yards while adding a touchdown, last Friday against the Toronto Argonauts. He also caught four passes for 21 yards. For the former Virginia Union University Panther, it marked his fourth game of more than 100 rushing yards this season, a personal best. Stanback collected an eighth 100-yards plus game in his CFL career.
In six games this season, Stanback sits atop the CFL with 618 rushing yards, which is 119 more yards than the next competitor. He has averaged an impressive 103 rushing yards per game.
The Alouettes will be playing their next game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field, on Saturday, October 2, at 4 p.m.
