NFL: The first games this season, what did we see and what do we expect?

It’s the beginning of 2025 and the Superbowl is nearly upon us. This means we’ve already seen some of the teams play. And this has given us some pretty good ideas regarding what to expect for this coming year. With 28 teams already eliminated from grabbing the Lombardi Trophy, it is now down to the final four. With what’s happened so far this year, do we know where the rest of 2025 will take us?

Early hopes

The Los Angeles Chargers were also looking great. With the Chargers improving hugely under new management, and running with one of the most gifted quarterbacks, this team is a strong contender. Justin Herbert (quarterback) threw four interceptions in the Wild Card Round, but there’s room to grow here. And, they have a top five ranked defense which is really where it was thought they could make their mark. But it wasn’t to be.

Superbowl bound?

Once again, the Kansas City Chiefs are well and truly in the running for entering a third consecutive Superbowl. They’re already back-to-back winners, is it possible they can make it a third? Okay, they are no longer undefeated, but its ample time for the team as a whole to refocus. That being said, they did beat the Texans in the recent game, which is giving them a strong start into the run-up.

Right now, it’s the Chiefs once again playing against the Bills. Impressively, this will be the fourth time these two teams have met in January. Of course, the Bills will be hoping that this time they can beat the Chiefs. And, if it’s any time to beat them, it’s this year. The Chiefs have looked as beatable as they likely ever will, and the Bills really have the chance to break through for a win. However, betting on Mahomes at home is a big risk. So really, it’s highly likely that the Chiefs will win through and take this one again. Really, we expect to see the Chiefs win this again, though it might not be by a big margin.

East conference winners

Elsewhere, if you were planning some exciting crypto sports betting things have gone awry for the Dallas Cowboys. Early in the season things were looking good. But the team didn’t make it out of the matchups with Commanders heading off to take on the Eagles as the Commanders look to grab a conference championship. However, while the Commanders look strong, the Eagles are more in form. Tight end, Dallas Goedert is an excellent option if you’re looking for a strong prop bet too, and could be a good option. It’s looking likely that the Eagles will get a second conference title in the last three years. With the expectation on the Eagles to win this, it’s really theirs to lose at this point.

The rest of 2025

We’re still not sure where the Superbowl is going to land us just yet, or who is going to be in it. But once we do, this will give us a solid look at where the rest of the year is headed.

Already though, there are some interesting developments in the NFL as a whole. For the first time, the NFL will have a regular season game in Berlin. It will take place in the Olympic Stadium. It’s going to be the fifth regular game in Germany as there are already games in Munich and Frankfurt, both held since 2022. As such, the NFL and the tradition of American football is growing in other countries outside America.

The NFL off-season is now here for the teams that didn’t make the playoffs. This means that there is seven months for these teams to turn things around. Of course, there’s a lot to ponder for each team and then the draft will soon be upon us.

Superbowl predictions

Without having a definitive two teams just yet, it’s hard to put money on a Superbowl winner. But with a Chiefs v Eagles potential matchup, then it’s anyone’s guess. Will a new team be crowned Superbowl champions this year? Or will it go to the reigning champs? It’s time to sit back and just watch.
