Saskatchewan Sign American Defensive Lineman Sidney Houston Jr.

The Roughriders continue to add to their training camp roster inking Sidney Houston Jr.

The 22-year-old spent the last two seasons at Ball State as a member of the Cardinals, where he put up staggering numbers. Across 24 games, Houston Jr. tallied 126 defensive tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two pass deflections, one forced fumble and recovery which he returned for a touchdown. Last season the Cahokia, Illinois native was named to the All-MAC First-Team, after leading the Mid-American Conference in tackles for loss with 17.

The six-foot-two, 246-pound edge rusher began his career in Division II at McKendree University, playing three seasons as a member of the Bearcats. He made 106 defensive tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and nine sacks across 24 games, earning First Team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honours in his final season.

Houston Jr. joins Elijah Ponder, R.J. McIntosh, and Roman Harrison as first-year American defensive linemen trying to crack the roster out of training camp.
