Montreal was on a bye in Week 10. After a dominant performance vs. Edmonton in Week 10, they look like a team firing on all cylinders. They are a well-oiled machine in all three phases of the game.
Their next scheduled game will be at home vs. Ottawa. With the way Ottawa has been playing this season, this game appears to be over before it begins.
Next game: Thursday, August 20th, 2026, vs. Ottawa.
2 – Edmonton Elks
Record: 7 – 3
Previous ranking: 3
Edmonton was looking to avoid a three-game losing streak entering Week 11. On record, this had the makings of a great football game. In the end, Edmonton showed up, and Toronto didn’t.
It was like Edmonton took a page from Montreal in Week 10, when Montreal had full control of the 2nd half in a 48-30 victory.
The flow of the game vs. Toronto was similar in nature to last week. The only difference was that Edmonton was dominant on both sides of the ball.
The turnovers came in the form of twos: 2 times Toronto gambled on 3rd down and came up empty. Edmonton then created 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries.
Factoring in many elements, Edmonton still pushed forward on their offensive possessions, racking up 31 points in the 2nd half alone.
Next game: Friday, August 21st, 2026, vs. Winnipeg.
Record: 6 – 3

Saskatchewan was looking to extend its lead in the West Division when they visited Hamilton.
Saskatchewan was tested early, being up 13-10 at halftime. With both teams known for a good defence, it was expected.
One of the main problems Saskatchewan encountered was the penalty issues. They were penalized 8 times for a total of 108 yards. Unable to run the ball (45 total yards), and with 2 turnovers at key moments in the game, it was too much to overcome.
Hamilton were able to make the necessary adjustments during the tail end of the 3rd quarter for the remainder of the game to counter any offensive threat by Saskatchewan.
Next game: Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, in BC.
Record: 5 – 4
Previous ranking: 6
By Winnipeg standards, this was not a great game. At the end of the day, the result that matters most is to get the win.
After being scoreless at the end of the 1st quarter, Winnipeg began to get into a rhythm, entering halftime up 20-9.
Winnipeg did experience a big scare in the 2nd quarter with a Lucas Cormier blindside hit on Zach Collaros. Although it was a clean hit, it had Zach Collaros shaken up. He would leave the game for four plays and later return.
Winnipeg was 3-for-3 in the red zone, and a perfect 2-for-2 on 3rd-down attempts.
Next game: Friday, August 21st, 2026, in Edmonton.
5 – BC Lions
Record: 4 – 5
Previous ranking: 7
Nathan Rourke and the Lions' offence were too much to handle for the Stampeders. BC was effective on the ground attack along with the aerial attack.
Zander Horvath had another big game with 102 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.
The BC defence came to life, holding Vernon Adams Jr. to 148 passing yards. More importantly, halting one of the best running backs, Dedrick Mills, to 49 rushing yards.
BC did get lucky, overcoming 3 turnovers and 9 penalties for 94 yards.
However, the offence kept its course, and the Lions cleaned up most of the penalty troubles in the latter part of the game.
Next game: Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, vs. Saskatchewan in BC.
Record: 4 – 6
Previous ranking: 8
It looked like it was going to be another sign of the injury bug for Hamilton when Harrison Frost left the game at halftime. He would not re-enter the game with an undisclosed upper-body injury.
Although Harrison Frost was still in uniform on the sidelines, he would have periodic check-ups with medical staff. Tre Ford would come in to complete the remainder of the game.
Hamilton did a lot of good things moving the ball against one of the best defences. More importantly, they only allowed Saskatchewan to 6 points in the 2nd half, as the Hamilton defence came up big, setting up the Hamilton offence for success.
Next game: Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, in Toronto.
Record: 4 – 6
Previous ranking: 4
The Stampeders were looking to experience the offensive flow that they have done so well this season vs. BC. The flow was there to a certain extent.
Calgary had a tough time extending and closing out drives, resulting in most of the offence being done by the leg of Jude McAtamney with 4 field goals. 3 of those field goals were in the 1st quarter.
Calgary had a hard time stopping the BC offence, as the Lions put up 453 total yards.
Next game: Calgary will be on a bye in Week 12. Their next scheduled game will be on Saturday, August 29th, 2026 vs. Hamilton.
Record: 4 – 5
Previous ranking: 5
One of the highest-scoring offences in the CFL hit a wall in Edmonton. Literally.
This was probably the worst game Toronto played as a whole this season. The Double Blue were unable to ignite a spark on both sides of the ball at any point for the duration of the game, and the numbers don’t lie:
22.20 in time of possession.
45 yards rushing.
12 first downs.
6 turnovers.
It will not get any easier for Toronto, as they have a date with their heated rivals from the Queen Elizabeth Way in Week 12. They will then face Saskatchewan in Week 13, followed by the Labour Day Classic in Week 14, vs. Hamilton again.
Next game: Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, vs. Hamilton.
9 - Ottawa Redblacks
Record: 0 – 9
Previous ranking: 9
It’s becoming the same story for Ottawa this season, with no positives to describe, for that matter. Ottawa fans are wondering if they will win a game this season.
Once again, the running game was ineffective, with 27 yards.
The defence had no answer for Winnipeg as a whole, allowing 23 first downs. Winnipeg moved the ball effectively against Ottawa by stretching their defence.
