It was a great week in the CFL with some high-octane games for Week 4. Who would have thought that Edmonton remains the lone undefeated team with a 3-0 record? The week began in Winnipeg with Edmonton beating Winnipeg 23-18. Toronto entered Regina and walked away with a surprising 40-34 win. In a battle of two winless teams, Calgary got in the win column in a highly entertaining 41-33 game vs. BC. The week ended on Sunday with Ottawa creating a possible comeback in Montreal. It was too little too late as Montreal would hang on to a 37-35 victory.

Hello CFL Fans! Here are your CFL News Hub Power Rankings after Week 4.

1 – Edmonton Elks

Record: 3 – 0

Previous ranking: 3

For an organization that has been the doormat for just about every team in the CFL for the past five seasons, the Elks appear to be a team playing with no fear and a lot of resilience. In the past, Edmonton was a team that would be in a huge deficit around weeks 4 to 6. The rebuild after rebuild has finally come to fruition under 2nd-year coach Mark Kilam. This Elks team appear to be more polished than in the recent past. In Winnipeg, the Elks defence was incredible, allowing only 18 points and winning the turnover battle. The offensive line was instrumental, allowing no sacks and giving Cody Fajardo time to orchestrate the offence. Edmonton as a whole was productive in all three phases of the game.

Next game: Saturday, July 4th, 2026, in BC

2 – Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Record: 2 – 1

Previous ranking: 2

Hamilton was on a bye in Week 4. They have a home date vs. Winnipeg. As it is now, this Hamilton Tiger-Cat squad is a great all-round football team that is more than capable of adding to its win total against Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers have been dealing with a lot of inconsistent football at the moment. This will be a good time for Hamilton to exploit the Winnipeg misfortunes.

Next game: Sunday, July 5th, 2026, vs. Winnipeg.

3 – Toronto Argonauts

Record: 2 – 1

Previous ranking: 4

There was some speculation about how the 2026 Toronto Argonauts would fare vs. the rest of the CFL. Entering one of the most hostile environments in the CFL, they came out swinging with an impressive return by Janarion Grant. All it took was a simple shift in direction, and the Argos' special teams blocking scheme created an open lane, and the rest was history. Chad Kelly had a great game with 321 passing yards, 2 touchdown passes, and a lone interception. Tyler Kahmann was impressive again with 82 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. The offence as a whole was consistent, putting up 10 points in each quarter.

Next game: Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 in Calgary.

4 – Montreal Alouettes

Record: 3 – 1

Previous ranking: 5

It looked like the Alouettes were on the verge of creating a lot of separation from the Redblacks, as they were in complete control of the game. Then came the midway point of the 3rd quarter, when Ottawa exploited many areas of the Montreal defence. As a result, the Ottawa comeback was in reach with 29 points in the 2nd half. Fortunately for Montreal, they shut the door, walking away with a narrow 37-35 win.

Next game: Montreal will be on a bye in week 5. Their next scheduled game will be on Saturday, July 11th, 2026 vs. Calgary.

5 – Saskatchewan Roughriders

Record: 2 – 1

Previous ranking: 1

The Roughriders were looking to stay undefeated when the visiting Argos came to town. The one hot-button issue was whether the Saskatchewan defence could finally return to its normal form. Toronto set the tone in this game, and it appeared that they caught Saskatchewan flat-footed. It eventually became a game of which defence would make the right play at the right time to seal a victory. With A.J. Ouellette not fit to play due to an injury, the Saskatchewan running game was effective during some moments in the game. The Saskatchewan offence was very dependent on the passing game. Once they got back in the game by halftime, the Roughriders were still unable to halt Toronto in the scoring department.

Next game: Friday, July 3rd, 2026, in Ottawa.

6 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Record: 1 – 2

Previous ranking: 6

It seems to be a repeat of last season with another slow start by Winnipeg. Facing a team finding its identity with Edmonton, Winnipeg was looking to regain some momentum in the early part of the season. Winnipeg was pushed around in this game by the Edmonton defence. Edmonton was dictating the game with hard-hitting plays. However, the game was still in reach when Winnipeg erased a 17-point deficit. Unfortunately, mental errors were a factor for Winnipeg and were unable to take command of the game in the final minutes.

Next game: Sunday, July 5th, 2026, in Hamilton.

7 – Calgary Stampeders

Record: 1 – 2

Previous ranking: 7

Calgary entered a game vs. BC in beautiful Kelowna, BC. Just like Toronto being displaced during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Lions have made Kelowna their temporary home. It was a game of both teams experiencing the same issues. A great high-scoring offence, along with a bad defence allowing a lot of points. It had all the makings of the last possession would most likely win the game. Calgary was in full control, entering the 4th quarter with a 31-17 lead. The offensive bombardment was too much for BC to handle. Calgary scored 5 touchdowns in this game in a 41-33 win.

Next game: Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 vs. Toronto.

8 – BC Lions

Record: 0– 3

Previous ranking: 8

BC was looking for two themes to reverse in this game vs. Calgary: a slow start, and a solid defensive outing. None were on display. Calgary was piling up the offensive stats early. BC was unable to create any plays by the defence nor on special teams in the game that could have changed the momentum. Although the passing game was phenomenal, the running game was non-existent, creating only 32 yards. Jermaine Jackson was solid with 149 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Keon Hatcher was also stellar with 162 receiving yards. Nathan Rourke was on fire with 462 passing yards, 3 touchdown passes, and a lone interception. However, it was a backloaded game in the 4th quarter when the BC offence was more effective.

Next game: Saturday, July 4th, 2026, vs. Edmonton.

9 - Ottawa Redblacks

Record: 0 – 3

Previous ranking: 9

On the surface, this was a good game. The reality was that it was a good game to watch. The problem with Ottawa was once again a slow start. Ottawa was unable to build any positive momentum in Montreal in the 1st half. Jake Maier looked out of sync for a few passing plays. The offence sputtered on multiple drives. Then luck was on Ottawa’s side. From the 3rd quarter, Ottawa began to find a rhythm. Jake Maier finally came to life, hitting his targets mainly with Justin Hardy. Kalil Pimpleton had a spectacular showing on special teams with 286 return yards and 1 touchdown. If there was a silver lining for Ottawa from this game, they almost had an upset vs. Montreal on the road. If the Redblacks can establish a running game and eliminate the slow starts, winning will come to fruition for Ottawa.

Next game: Friday, July 3rd, 2026, vs. Saskatchewan.
