Are the Montreal Alouettes falling apart?

With yet another loss to the Ottawa REDBLACKS on Thanksgiving Monday the Alouettes failed to clinch a playoff spot. Montreal’s star running back William Stanback’s return wasn’t even enough to push the team over the top. The Alouettes only need one more win to clinch but with only three more games remaining in the regular season one must wonder if the Alouettes will even be able to make the playoffs this year?

The Alouettes will try to clinch a playoff spot once again next weekend against the same REDBLACKS. Ottawa has bested Montreal in their last two meetings. Montreal lost 38-24 on September 2nd and lost 24-18 on Thanksgiving Day. The REDBLACKS appear to be the Alouettes kryptonite this season.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are nipping at the Alouettes heels with a 5-10 record. They are only 2 wins back of the Alouettes (7-8). The Tiger-Cats play on the road against the Calgary Stampeders next weekend before finishing their season with back-to-back games against the Alouettes’ 2022 nemesis Ottawa REDBLACKS.

The Alouettes are still in the driver’s seat and control their own destiny but they need to go out and prove they are worthy of the playoffs by defeating Ottawa on the road next weekend. RB Stanback now has a game under his belt since returning from injury, so he may be ready to breakout next game. If the team fails to win again then all bets are off as to who will qualify for the CFL playoffs in the East.
