BC Lions Sign 2021 First Round Pick Daniel Joseph

The BC Lions announced on Wednesday they have signed defensive lineman Daniel Joseph who they drafted in 2021 fourth overall.

DL Daniel Joseph  – North Carolina State (26 y/o, 6’2, 261 lbs)

Daniel Joseph played his first 3 seasons at Penn State where he played in 32 games contributing 12 solo tackles, 17 assisted tackles, 5 sacks, a pass defended, and a forced fumble. Joseph played for North Carolina State in 2020 and 2021. At NC State he played in 23 games with 20 starts contributing 33 solo tackles, 50 assisted tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, 11.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

Joseph signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and was waived on August 29. 

He played for the Seattle Dragons in the XFL in 2023 appearing in 7 games during which he made 4 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, and 2 sacks.

Joseph is the cousin of Esa Mrabure who was a 2015 first-round pick for the BC Lions and brother of Faith Ekakitie who was the first overall pick for Winnipeg in 2017.
