BC Lions Sign RB Damarae Crockett and LB Ayinde “Ace” Eley

The BC Lions announced on Tuesday the signing of American runningback Damarae Crockett. The Lions announced on Wednesday the signing of American linebacker Ayinde “Ace” Eley.

The Lions also announced on Wednesday the signing of Dezmon Patmon which we previously reported on here.

RB Damarae Crockett – Missouri (26 y/o, 5’10, 225 lbs)

Damarea Crockett played for Missouri from 2016 to 2018. He played in 29 games with the program with 10 starts rushing 380 times for 2,252 yards (5.93 average) and 19 touchdowns. He added 137 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns over 21 receptions.

He declared for

the NFL Draft as a junior foregoing his senior year to pursue professional opportunities. On his pro day in 2019, he performed a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, 21 bench reps, 37-inch vertical, 9’11” broad jump, 4.32-second shuttle, and 7.43-second 3-cone drill.

Crockett signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2019 although he was waived during final cuts. He spent time on the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers practice squads before he joined the Denver Broncos which is where he remained the longest.

He joined the Denver Broncos in October 2020. He played in 12 games with the Denver Broncos in 2021 rushing 3 times for 7 yards. He was waived by the Broncos in June of 2023. He was with the New York Jets this past training camp until he was waived in mid-August.

k-heading">LB Ayinde “Ace” Eley – Georgia Tech (25 y/o, 6’3, 233 lbs)

Ayinde “Ace” Eley played for Maryland from 2017 to 2020 with 2017 being a redshirt year before transferring to Georgia Tech for his final 2 seasons. He played in 25 games for Maryland recording 58 solo tackles, 53 assisted tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, 6 passes defended, 3 fumble recoveries, and half a sack. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2019 by the coaches.

Eley played for Georgia Tech in 2021 and 2022. He played in 23 games with the program all of which were starts. He recorded 100 solo tackles, 108 assisted tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 4 passes defended with Georgia Tech. 

He finished his collegiate career with a strong season accumulating 57 solo tackles, 61 assisted tackles, 9.5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 3 passes defended. He was Second Team All-ACC in 2022. His 118 total tackles in 2022 ranked him 5th in the nation.

On his pro day

in 2023, he performed a 4.97-second 40-yard dash, 20 bench reps, 32-inch vertical jump, 10’ broad jump, 4.62-second shuttle, and a 7.5-second 3-cone drill.

Eley signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2023 although he was waived amid final cuts. The Panthers brought him back in early November to be a member of their practice squad. On January 22 he signed with the Houston Texans but was recently waived on March 21.
