Soon winter will be behind us like the wretched 2021 season. Every Lion’s fan is patiently awaiting the 2022 season for a chance to prove that last year was a fluke, and B.C. Lions owner Amar Doman is promising fans that they’ll have something to look forward to this year.
With the 2022 CFL season encroaching Doman stopped by Donnie and Dhali on CHEK TV teasing some great new promotions being planned for Lion’s fans in the 2022 season. One of the new plans is a family-friendly activity called the ‘Family Zone’ where kids can get tickets with their family for as little as $10.00 per game or $85.00 for a season pass.
“We want the kids to come back with the parents; Friday and Saturday nights,” Doman explained.
“Make it affordable, we’re doing that, and we’re going to have a heck of an opener coming up on June 11th, that we’ll talk about in a minute. We’re fired up for that, but really trying to get everyone back in the building and not scared about pricing.”
The Lions Kick the 2022 CFL season, the 68th in franchise history, at home against division rival the Edmonton Elks on June, 11th. There will be plenty of promotions for the fans to get excited about, and a beefed-up line-up, that is sure to best last year’s performance.
The cornerstone of that new line-up will be Nathan Rourke who will be taking his place as the starting quarterback for the Lions this year, who Doman is excited to see take the reigns for his first full season. Rourke put on a show for fans in the final game of the 2021 season, leading the team to victory in his first game ever.
“It’s unbelievable. First of all, he’s a number one guy. He worked his tail off in college, he looked real sharp on the limited time he’s played in the CFL. He’s working his tail off in the offseason as real pros do. Just like Lucky Whitehead. Some of the guys we’ve put together here, I’m not going to take credit for it, the management has; Neil, Rick these guys are doing a fantastic job. The quarterback situation is interesting with two Canadians. It hasn’t happened in 50 years. That’s exciting, for the CFL and BC. To really have that BC connection is going to be really special for the fan base, I know it’s special to me.” Doman said.
Only time will tell what the 2022 CFL season will hold for the Lions, but there is no doubt that the future looks bright for this young team.
