The Bombers are set to take on Elks Saturday night, and while the Bombers can clinch a playoff birth with a win, the Elks are trying to stay alive in the playoff race.
Earlier in the week it looked as though Demski was not going to be available for this game.

That made perfect sense based on the fact that he did not practice this week, and was listed as “doubtful”.

However, the Bombers announced early on Friday afternoon that Demski will be in the game!

Another interesting note regarding the Bombers’ depth chart is that Mitchell is not only listed…but listed as a starter. Maybe what Bombers’ Head Coach Mike O’Shea was exactly the case.

As for the Elks, here is how they will line up.

What to expect from Edmonton
The Elks need to likely win 2 of their next 3 games to make it into the playoffs…so I expect them to come out slugging! Watch for Edmonton to do a couple of things.
1. Go deep often
Fajardo is not afraid to go deep down the field; and the Bombers have been susceptible to the long ball. If the Bombers can make some interceptions it would go a long way to helping them win.
2. Fajardo running
I expect that if Fajardo does not like what he sees downfield, he will take off with the ball and run…especially with what is on the line for the Elks.
3. Feeding Rankin
The other running threat that the Bombers are going to have to contain is Rankin. Rankin seems to have boom or bust games. With Rankin and Fajardo as running threats the Bombers need to protect against the run, which will open up the long ball.
4. Foot on the gas
Edmonton needs to beat the Bombers by 14 points to take the session series…just beating the Bombers is not good enough to leapfrog them. I expect Edmonton will pull out every stop, not just to get a win but to win by 14+. Do not be surprised to see Edmonton pull out a trick play.
What to expect from the Bombers
This, right here.

On offence, defense, and special teams…expect the Bombers to come out swigging.
1) Healthy dose of Brady
The Bombers need to feed Brady Oliveira consistently throughout the game. Getting away from the run will put the Bombers at a disadvantage.
2) Stop big passes and big runs
Whether you like ‘bend but don’t break defense’ is irrelevant. The Bombers need to make sure that they do not give up chunk plays in the air or on the ground. This not an either/or situation…they need to stop both.
3) Beat the Elks on special teams
Sure it would be great if Vaval returned another kickoff or punt for a touchdown. But I would contest that he does not need to. What the Bombers do need to do is beat the Elks on special teams. Win the field position battle making the Elks start deep in their own end. Do not miss makeable field goals. Create turnovers…or at least do not have a turnover of your own.
