Two winless West Division teams meet in Kelowna on Saturday, and someone's 0-3 nightmare ends — the question is who blinks first.

Game Details

  • Matchup: Calgary Stampeders at BC Lions
  • When: Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: Apple Bowl, Kelowna, BC
  • TV: TSN
  • Stream: Watch live on CFL+

Odds

  • Spread: BC Lions -1
  • Moneyline: Calgary Stampeders +100, BC Lions -120
  • Over/Under: 56

The market sees this as a virtual coin flip, which makes sense given both teams are winless and neither has covered a single spread this season. Calgary is 0-1-1 ATS with two overs in two games; BC is 0-2 ATS with two overs as well. Both offenses have been leaky enough that the over looks like the play on trend alone — though a combined 56-point total suggests Vegas isn't expecting a shootout.

Overview

This is as close to a must-win as Week 4 gets. Both the Stampeders and the Lions are 0-2 while the rest of the West Division has already started pulling away — Edmonton sits at 3-0, and Saskatchewan is 2-0. A third straight loss doesn't just hurt the standings; it starts to define a season. Calgary gets their first road test of 2026 in genuinely unusual surroundings: the Apple Bowl in Kelowna, a 4,500-seat junior football stadium serving as BC's home while the FIFA World Cup occupies BC Place. It's also the first time the Stamps have ever played in Kelowna, making it the 21st city in franchise history for a game. Oh, and Calgary will debut their new away jerseys Saturday for the first time — both preseason games were played in the old white set, and their two regular-season games were at home.

Calgary has the more encouraging recent form of the two, even without a win to show for it. In Week 3, the Stamps pushed the 2-0 Saskatchewan Roughriders to double overtime at McMahon Stadium before falling 40-37 — a game that featured Dedrick Mills going for 100-plus yards on the ground for the second straight week and Tyreik McAllister returning a missed field goal 120 yards for a touchdown to end the first half. BC, by contrast, was outpaced 41-27 in Hamilton in Week 3, surrendering the lead and never seriously challenging the Tiger-Cats down the stretch. The Lions have been outscored 72-54 through two games and haven't found a consistent offensive identity around Nathan Rourke yet. Calgary edges BC on recent form, and that's the primary reason to like the Stamps as a slight road underdog despite the Lions' home-field advantage — even if "home field" means a junior football stadium in the Okanagan.

One more storyline worth flagging: the Stampeders dropped both regular-season matchups against the Lions in 2025 and then lost to them in the Western Semi-Final in Vancouver. Calgary has a score to settle, and this is the first opportunity of 2026 to start changing that narrative. Vernon Adams Jr. needs just one more win as a starter to reach 50 in his career — a milestone that would taste a lot sweeter coming at BC's expense. The two teams meet again in Calgary on Aug. 13, but this Week 4 clash sets the tone for how that rivalry plays out the rest of the season.

Key Players

  • Vernon Adams Jr. (Calgary, QB) — Leads the Stamps with 493 passing yards this season and is one win away from 50 career victories as a starter; his ability to extend plays and manage the two-minute drill will be Calgary's biggest X-factor.
  • Dedrick Mills (Calgary, RB) — Third in the CFL in rushing yards (215) on 31 carries and has topped 100 yards in each of his last two outings; one more rushing touchdown gets him to 20 for his career.
  • Clarence Hicks (Calgary, DL) — The reigning Most Outstanding Defensive Player nominee has registered at least one sack in every game this season (3 total) and added a forced fumble last week that set up Calgary's first touchdown; he's the most dangerous player on this field not taking snaps under center.
  • Nathan Rourke (BC, QB) — BC's statistical leader with 621 passing yards but has yet to get his team into the win column; if the Lions are going to flip the script, Rourke needs a clean game against a Hicks-led pass rush that won't give him many free looks.
  • Justin McInnis (BC, WR) — BC's top receiver with 210 yards on the season; he's the Lion most capable of breaking a big play and will command attention from Calgary's secondary all night.

Keys to the Game

  • Feed Mills and stay on schedule: When Calgary's run game is churning — and it has been for two straight weeks — it keeps Adams Jr. in manageable down-and-distance situations and limits the damage that Mathieu Betts and BC's pass rush can do.
  • Hicks has to wreck the game plan early: If Calgary's defensive end can get into Rourke's face in the first quarter and force some quick decisions, BC's offense — which has already shown it can be rattled — may never find its rhythm in an unfamiliar venue with a quieter crowd.
  • Win the turnover battle: Calgary committed enough mistakes in Weeks 1 and 2 to lose both close games; in a matchup this tight, a single turnover differential is likely to decide the outcome, and the Stamps' defense — led by Hicks' forced fumble last week — has shown it can create them.

The two confirmed outs — DB Adrian Greene (knee) and LB Eric Rascoe (back) — did not practice all week. The secondary depth takes a hit without Greene, though the rest of the injury list cleared practice by Thursday and should be full go. DB Anton Haie, who had been on the single-game injury list, is listed as available after practicing fully all week. Receiver Jalen Philpot is available despite battling illness — that matters, as he leads the team with 149 receiving yards this season and is chasing the 2,000-career-yard milestone (45 yards away).

Score Prediction

Calgary Stampeders 30 - BC Lions 26. The market implies a near-dead-even game at 28-28, and the case for BC rests mostly on the home designation — even if "home" means a junior stadium in Kelowna. Calgary's run game is the most consistent unit on either side of this matchup, Mills is in a groove, and Hicks is the most impactful defensive player in this game by a wide margin. Factor in BC's shakier recent form (blown out in Hamilton) versus Calgary's close double-overtime loss to a 2-0 Saskatchewan team, and the Stamps get the edge in a tight, low-turnover game. Adams Jr. gets win No. 49 — the milestone will have to wait one more week.
