Quick Game Recap
In a CFL game that proved to be less what we thought it would be. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers surged past the Edmonton Elks with a final score of 28-14. The Blue Bombers established their dominance early on and maintained it throughout the game, leading to a convincing victory.
Edmonton Elks’ Breakdown
The Elks, though they battled diligently, fell short in their attempt to overcome the Blue Bombers’ overwhelming force. QB Taylor Cornelius had a commendable performance, completing 17 of 29 pass attempts and throwing for 220 yards, but his two interceptions proved costly. He also demonstrated mobility, rushing for 57 yards.
On the ground, running back Kevin Brown showed tenacity, rushing for 51 yards on 11 carries, while receiver Dillon Mitchell had a notable performance with 115 yards and a touchdown on 4 receptions.
On defense, linebacker Tony Jones led the team in tackles with 7, followed by cornerback Marcus Lewis, who notched 5 tackles and an interception. Still, their defensive efforts couldn’t turn the tide for the Elks.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ Breakdown
The Blue Bombers exhibited a remarkable performance both offensively and defensively. QB Zach Collaros had an impressive outing, completing 20 of 24 passes for 308 yards, throwing two touchdowns and only one interception.
On the ground, running back Brady Oliveira rushed for 110 yards on 17 carries, and QB Dakota Prukop added a touchdown from his 3 rushes.
The receiving corps also had a splendid performance, with Nic Demski and Kenny Lawler recording 115 yards with a touchdown and 93 yards respectively. Rasheed Bailey added a touchdown catch, showing the Bombers’ depth and diversity in offensive strategies.
On the defensive side, CB Abu Daramy-Swaray topped the team with 6 tackles. DT Willie Jefferson managed 2 sacks, showing his mettle in the pass rush, and CB Deatrick Nichols contributed with an interception. This all-around defensive effort helped secure the Bombers’ commanding victory.
Despite the Elks’ spirited fight, the Blue Bombers proved too potent to handle, leading to a decisive 28-14 victory. As the season progresses, the Edmonton Elks will need to revisit their strategies, while the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be looking to continue their winning momentum.

Edmonton is going to gave a very tough time this year trying to win games with that kind of quarterbacking. They should have Johnny Manziel reinstated to become their backup qb.
