Week 12 of the CFL 2022 season saw the Argos ride a second-half surge past the Ticats at BMO Field with a 37-20 victory. Thanks to a career night by standout cornerback Jamal Peters and Toronto’s opportunistic defense.
On a night where McLeod Bethel-Thompson (258 yards 3tds) moved into fourth all-time on the Argos’ career passing yards list. It was Jamal Peters and Toronto’s defence that shined the brightest. Jamal Peters, the second-year CFL player, had three interceptions, including a late pick-six to give Toronto a 15-point lead.
Toronto started the game off very sluggish, trailing Hamilton 13-3 before a late scoring drive at the end of the first half. The Argos would go on to score 27 points in the second half, thanks to excellent field position created by Toronto’s defence, which forced four turnovers and netted four sacks and two forced fumbles.
The loss by the now 3-8 Ticats puts them two a half-games behind 5-5 Toronto for first place in the East. Hamilton now falls to 0-6 on the road this season.
Toronto and Hamilton will meet again for the fourth time this season on Monday, September 5th at 1 pm ET for the 51st Annual Labour Day Classic. The Ti-Cats have won seven straight in the LDC Eastern series. They lead the all-time series over Toronto 36-13-1.
The Argonauts are embarking upon a four-game road stretch and won’t return to BMO Field until Week 18 on Saturday, October 8th, against BC.
