Edmonton At Winnipeg Preview

Well, it is official…MBT will start for Edmonton on Friday in Winnipeg!

As I wrote earlier, pulling Ford in their last game has created a quarterback carrousel.

How this bodes for Edmonton and Winnipeg will be seen in front of a sold out crowd in Winnipeg. However, if MBT plays like he did, when he came in relief last game, it will be terrible for Edmonton and great for Winnipeg!

One rematch we will not see, at least not initally.

Who will the Bombers be without?

And then there is this news.

So how will t

he teams match up? All those that were listed as “Questionable” for Winnipeg appear to be playing.

While Winnipe

g holds the season series over BC, Saskatchewan, and Calgary, Winnipeg only plays Edmonton twice. This will be the second of those 2 meetings

So you can believe that both teams will be looking to put up as many points as possible – since the tie breaker may come down to that. With that, I expect both teams will be looking to score early, often, and even at the end of the game. Do not look for either team to take a knee near the end of the game.

For the Bombers to win here is what they will have to do:

    ock-list">
  • Get to MBT early and often – MBT is coming off of a ‘meh’ performance, but if he gets it going he can be hot!
  • Cover well down field – the Bombes have allowed some wide open long shots this season.
  • Keep the Edmonton running game to a minimum – whether it is Kevin Brown, Javon Leake, or Justin Rankin, Edmonton’s rung game must be limited.
  • Protect Zach
    – Early in the season the O-Line was suspect and we do not know who will be the backup, regardless of the depth chart.
  • Win the turnover battle.
  • Stay away from dummy penalties – Winnipeg simply cannot help Edmonton out that way.
  • Keep the Bom
ber D rolling – both in coverage, pressures, and blitzes. Do more of what you did last game.
  • Convert turnovers to points – Winnipeg forced 4 turnovers in the first half last week and generated very little off of it…that simply will not continue to be a recipe for success!
  • Do not play down to your competition – Edmonton may have a lesser record, but they are certainly on the upswing.
  • Feed Oliveir
a and get to the ‘chicken coop’ – Brady has now broken 1,000 yards rushing for the third time in a row (only the 4th Canadian to do that) and he scored his first 2 touchdowns!
  • Keep the crowd in it – it looks like the weather is going to be fantastic and that the Bombers will play in front of another sellout crowd!
