Yesterday on Monday, February 13th, 2023, the Edmonton Elks released both Canadian Running Back Ante Litre, along with Linebacker/Defensive Lineman Malik Tyne.
ANTE LITRE
The release of Ante Litre is somewhat peculiar, to say the least. Just recently, approximately one month ago on January 14th, 2023, Ante Litre agreed to a 1-year contract extension with the Edmonton Elks.
It was a great signing for Edmonton where Ante Litre would have shouldered some of the load off of the running game, along with being an asset in both pass blocking, along with being effective on key drives to extend plays as a receiver out of the backfield on screen plays.
The Vancouver, British Columbia native out of Notre Dame Regional Secondary School would play continue his football career locally at Simon Fraser University.
Ante Litre was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in 2017, in which he would be part of the Calgary Stampeders’ success until 2021 (minus the 2020 cancelled season).
During his stay in Calgary, we would be part of the Calgary Stampeders‘ success in claiming a Grey Cup during the 2018 season.
In 73 career games in the CFL, Ante Litre has a total of 592 rushing yards and three touchdowns, as well as 41 catches for 319 yards.
