QB Frost Re-Signs; RB Watts Brings New Punch to Hamilton

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to prepare to evaluate which players they will need to pursue during the CFL free agency period in February. In addition, the Tiger-Cats are also continuing to sign prospects that they will assess during rookie training camp and official training camp. Earlier this week, the Tiger-Cats re-signed American quarterback Jake Dolegala and added American running back Larry Rountree III and wide receiver Jesse Matthews.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to fortify their 2026 roster by re-signing American quarterback Harrison Frost and signing American running back Shane Watts.

By bringing back Harrison Frost, the Tiger-Cats continue to keep continuity at the quarterback position with Frost, Dolegala, and Bo Levi Mitchell all returning for the 2026 season. Similar to Frost, the Tiger-Cats have previously had running back Shane Watts on their roster when they signed him last July, but Watts did enough to convince the Tiger-Cats that he deserved another opportunity. The return of Frost and Watts helps add more depth to the Tiger-Cats’ talent pool on the offensive side of the ball for the 2026 season.

Harrison Frost has served as the Tiger-Cats’ backup quarterback during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. During that time, Frost has been active in 17 games, but he has thrown only 12 passes for Hamilton, completing 8 for 95 yards. On the other hand, Frost has had few opportunities to lead the Tiger-Cats on offense because starting quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has remained healthy over the last two seasons.

Shane Watts, 5’9″ and 195 pounds, spent time with the New England Patriots during the 2025 NFL season. The Tiger-Cats need more depth at running back, and Watts could make an impact at that position. At NCAA DII Fort Hays State from 2021 to 2024, he ran 334 times for 1,979 yards and 18 touchdowns, adding 61 receptions for 606 yards and one receiving touchdown.
