The Montreal Alouettes have made their cuts to get the team down to its 75-player limit for the pre-season. The Alouettes have released 11 players. All 11 of the players released are American. The Alouettes have also added 2 wide receivers, James Letcher Jr and John Brunner.
James Letcher Jr, WR, Washburn University
James Letcher Jr started in 31 games over his 48-game career at Washburn. He compiled 228 career receptions for 2,992 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also has the most kickoff return touchdowns in program history with 3. He also had 2 punt return touchdowns in his career.
In 2022, Letcher Jr was named an All-American return specialist by D2CCA. He led the MIAA conference in receiving yards with 1,076 yards on 80 catches and 10 touchdowns. This saw him have 344 more yards than 2nd place in the conference.
In 2021 Letcher Jr had 68 catches for 927 yards and 10 touchdowns over 10 starts. He was named all-MIAA First Team as both a receiver and a returner.
Letcher Jr attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp which occurred May 6-8. He ran a 4.52 40-yard dash at the University of Kansas pro day. He measures 5’8 and 175 pounds.
John Brunner, WR, Western Illinois
John Brunner played his first year of collegiate football in junior college. He then transferred to Western Illinois where he played 3 seasons and played in 17 games with 0 starts. He contributed 53 receptions for 745 yards and 3 touchdowns at Western Illinois.
In 2022 he played in 11 games in the IFL for the Bismarck Bucks catching 41 passes for 399 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Player Releases
The unfortunate part of the business is player releases. A lot of talented players among these 11 players. Hasise Dubois for example, was 4th in the ACC in receiving yards in 2019 during which he had 1,062 yards.

He currently lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan and misses being being able to have 4 months of skating every winter.
