Montreal Alouettes Sign American Linebacker, Michael Kennedy

The Montreal Alouettes signed American linebacker, Michael Kennedy on Wednesday. He played all five of his collegiate football seasons for Northern Illinois in the MAC.

In 2022 Kennedy played in all 12 games for Northern Illinois. He was tied for first on the team with 5.5 sacks. He was also third on the team for tackles for a loss at 6.5. He contributed 32 tackles 11 of which were solo.

Kennedy was recognized last season as a Semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy which is given to the top scholar-athlete in college football. He was also named third-team All-MAC by coaches.

In 2021 Kennedy played in every game and started in seven. He contributed 44 tackles (23 solo), 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and a pass breakup. He had 3 tackles in the MAC Championship game which Northern Illinois was victorious in over Kent State.

Kennedy played in 52 games over 5 seasons for Nothern Illinois totalling 106 tackles (47 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, and a force fumble and recovery.

Kennedy was also an offensive threat in high school rushing for 1,078 yards in 141 carries for 7.5 yards per carry and adding 13 touchdowns. He also did track and field in high school earning six first-place medals and 2 conference championships.
