Montreal Alouettes Sign WR Javon Gipson, LS Lucus Spencer

The Montreal Alouettes announced the signing of an American wide receiver, Javon Gipson, to a 2-season contract on Tuesday. The Alouettes signed Canadian long snapper Lucas Spencer through the 2028 season on Monday.

WR Javon Gipson - Abilene Christian (6’4, 215 lbs)

Javon Gipson finished his NCAA career with Abilene Christian, where he played in 26 games over 2 seasons. In 2024, he played in 13 games with 5 starts, catching 23 passes for 335 yards and 2 touchdowns, with his biggest game coming against Northern Colorado, in which he posted 7 catches for 102 yards.


Gipson played in 13 games in 2025 for ACU with 12 starts and led the team in catches with 64. He had 1,022 yards and 6 touchdowns. In November, he had 3 consecutive games with 100 yards or more, catching 24 passes for 452 yards and 4 touchdowns over that span. He was named Third-Team All-American by FCS Football Central in 2025.


Gipson started his collegiate career with Baylor, where he played from 2021 to 2023. He appeared in 1 game in 2023, 9 in 2022, and 5 in 2023. He had 2 receptions with Baylor in 2022 for 22 yards before transferring to seek a team where he would get more opportunities.

LS Lucus Spencer - Bishop’s (6’4, 235 lbs)

Lucas Spencer was undrafted in the 2025 CFL Draft. The Bishop’s product played in 41 games with the program, where he recorded 21 total tackles. He played in the Canadian Junior Football League prior to his collegiate ball with the Okanagan Sun in 2019, where he recorded 3 tackles plus 4 special teams tackles over 6 games in 2019.
