Montreal Alouettes: The Alouettes are coming off a hard-fought overtime loss in Edmonton, but showed plenty of fight. Davis Alexander threw for 356 yards and a touchdown as the offence remained productive despite the defeat. Montreal will look to bounce back in front of their home crowd and get back on the winning track.

Ottawa RedBlacks: The RedBlacks are still looking for their first win after losing 24-44 last week to Toronto. Jake Maier threw for 281 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Ottawa struggled to get the run game going against Toronto. The team generated 4 interceptions but gave up 522 yards of net offense to Toronto last week.

Alouettes Keys to the Game

Continued Efficiency From Alexander

Alexander tore up the stats sheet again with 356 passing yards and a touchdown.

Exploit Ottawa’s Secondary

Ottawa has had a tough time slowing down opposing offenses so far this season. Tyson Philpot, Tyler Snead, and Alexander Hollins can create big plays if the Alouettes win the intermediate and deep routes.

Keep Pounding the Rock

It was positive to see so many successful run plays from Montreal, which has at times been a team to run the ball less than I’d like to see. Last week saw Travis Theis rush 19 times for 91 and a touchdown.

Pressure on Maier

Jake Maier has some added pressure to perform on his shoulders with Ottawa’s recent signing of McLeod Bethel-Thompson. Montreal can make his road trip even more uncomfortable by putting pressure on him in the backfield.

Alouettes to Watch

10 QB Davis Alexander

Alexander is already over a thousand yards this season after completing 68.5% of his passes for 1,133 yards and 5 touchdowns over 3 games.

6 WR Tyson Philpot

Philpot leads the league in receiving currently after catching 24 passes for 389 yards and 3 touchdowns.

.85 WR Tyler Snead

Snead is currently 4th in the league in receiving, having caught 19 passes for 305 yards and 2 touchdowns.

82 WR Kaseem Ferdinand

Ferdinand caught 4 of his 5 targets last week for 55 yards.

23 DB Nate Beauchemin

Last week saw Beauchemin record 5 tackles and his first career interception as well as recover a fumble.

RedBlacks to Watch

13 QB Jake Maier

Maier has completed 61% of his passes for 484 yards and 2 touchdowns with 2 interceptions over 2 games.

7 WR Ayden Eberhardt

Eberhardt leads Ottawa in receiving currently after catching 12 of his 18 targets for 178 yards and a touchdown over the first 2 games.

87 WR Eugene Lewis

Lewis caught 4 passes for 48 yards last week and brings big play capabilities to the RedBlacks offense.

5 RB Greg Bell

Bell rushed 11 times for 29 yards and added 6 receptions for 31 yards in his debut as a RedBlack. Ottawa needs to get him going to spark the offense.

1 LB Nyles Morgan

Morgan led Ottawa with 10 tackles last week.

Score Prediction:

I am predicting the Montreal Alouettes to win 31-24. Montreal has home-field advantage and high offensive production, while Ottawa is still finding their way.
