It is awfully hard to think that Chris Strevler could come back from his second ACL surgery and could come back to football, right? Well, apparently, he has not ruled it out.

We really should not be surprised that Streveler is not ruling out a return to football. We have seen that this guy is tough as nails. Even after his first ACL injury, in September of 2024 Streveler said, “This isn’t the end of my journey. See y’all back out on the field soon.” (source) But at 31 years of age, one has to wonder, does he really want to do this again?

Do you remember being 31? I do. It’s about that age where you stop believing that you are invincible, but still believe that you have a lot of life still ahead of you. That may lead to Streveler deciding to give it another go, or deciding that he would like a quality of life where injuries do not catch up to him later on after his playing career.

At the end of the season in November, Streveler indicated that he was unsure about the future. However, this week he declined to confirm one way or another to whether he would be trying to make a go of it again.

What does that tell me? It tells me that Streveler is still deeply considering trying to play again. If he had ruled out that option, there is no reason that he would not have said so. The hesitancy to say anything definitive about the future, leads me to believe that he wants to give it another try.

But Where?
It is all good if a player wants to keep playing…but they have to find a team that will sign them. And even if the rehab goes great for Streveler, finding a team that wants him might be the hardest part. The NFL window has closed on him; he tried it and it did not work. And look, he did not do himself any favours in 2025.

6 passing touchdowns to 11 interceptions is not going to excite any CFL team. It was so bad that the Bombers actually came up with a game plan for him that included not throwing the football. How can Streveler or his agent approach any team and convince them that he has something to offer?

The only option I see for Streveler is being a number 3 quarterback that is used for short yardage/touchdown rushes. But even then, will a CFL team use a roster spot for that; knowing that is all you are getting? In a league where the starting quarterback usually does not play all 18 games, you need a quality number two, and to have a number three that could throw the ball if absolutely needed is not a terrible idea. Yet, you do not get that with Streveler. Unless a team really needs a number three quarterback that can do nothing but run the ball (something that Streveler will do even worse at after two surgeries) I just do not see him getting a shot.
