Today, the Toronto Argonauts announced that the team had re-signed Canadian DLย Fabion Foote. Montreal originally drafted the North York, Ontario native in the 2017 CFL draft. The McMaster grad run-stopper made his way to the Six in 2020 but didnโt make his on-field debut until later in the 2021 campaign, playing in three games, including the Eastern final.
The 6โ2 285 Foote should help bolster the Argos depth upfront. The Double Blue most recently re-signed emerging DL Robbie Smith. So newly minted defensive coordinator Corey Mace will indeed be sharing his expertise on the defensive line with two of his new players.
On Tuesday, Toronto announced the addition of American LB Solomon Ajayi. If the name looks familiar to you. Itโs because the former Liberty standout is the younger brother of former NFL RB Jay Ajayi. You may also remember Solomon from his appearance on Netflixโs Last Chance U series, where he battled his way at the Juco level to make his way to Liberty.
Ajayi most recently spent time with the Cleveland Browns in 2020 after signing as an undrafted free agent in April that year. Ajayi, 6โ1 235, played two seasons at the Virginia school (2018-2019), tallying 165 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 25 games. The Texas native played a season at Bakersfield College (CA) in 2015-2016 and recorded 50 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in 10 games for the Renegades.
