The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have had a busy start to the week with signing players and adjusting their roster. Hamilton recently announced the most recent additions to the Tiger-Cats roster, including signing quarterback Kevin Thomson, defensive lineman Adam Plant Jr., linebacker Jimmy Phillips, and defensive lineman Kelle Sanders. Not included in that announcement, the CFL Transactions list also shows that Hamilton has signed wide receiver/tight end Jamal Turner.
Along with signing new players to the 2024 roster, the Tiger-Cats have made additional roster moves among their veteran players. Earlier this week, the Tiger-Cats completed a trade with the Toronto Argonauts to obtain linebacker Jordan Williams and several draft picks in exchange for a host of CFL draft picks in return for Williams to Toronto. Hamilton has also decided to release National defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo, and they have restructured the contract of CFL veteran offensive lineman Joel Figueroa.
The Tiger-Cats have restructured Figueroa’s contract after a disappointing season in which the veteran offensive lineman only played in five games for the Tiger-Cats during the 2023 season. The Tiger-Cats signed Figueroa as a free agent during the 2023 free agency period. Before being signed by Hamilton, Figueroa played in Edmonton from 2016 until 2017, and he also played for the BC Lions from 2018 until 2022.

While at SMU, Phillips played in 60 games and recorded 179 total tackles, two interceptions, and two quarterback sacks.

Sanders also played linebacker at the University of Alabama-Birmingham from 2020 until 2022.
