Recently, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed American offensive lineman Aron Johnson to their practice squad. Johnson is an 23 year old, 6′ 3″, 300 pound offensive tackle . At SDSU, Johnson played 48 games at right tackle and left tackle at times. If Johnson is able to find his place within the Tiger-Cats organization, he may be a key part of the plan to improve the Tiger-Cats offensive line.
Coming into the 2022 CFL season, the Tiger-Cats offensive line is a unit that needs to improve quickly. One of the most significant issues to the offensive line is left tackle. Excellent size and technical skill set could make him a great candidate for filling that left tackle position. This move would allow Brandon Revenberg to move back to an offensive guard position. Improving the run game and pass protection will key factors to helping the Tiger-Cats offense approach the level of success that they have achieved previously in the 2019 and 2021 season.
It will be interesting to see how Aron Johnson fits in the Tiger-Cats offensive game plan. This move will most likely be the first of many personnel moves Hamilton makes to prepare themselves to make progress on offence on a weekly basis.
