Winnipeg At Saskatchewan – Bombers Look To Keep Winning Ways Alive!

The Bombers will play in Saskatchewan this Friday night; with Winnipeg on a 2 game win streak and Saskatchewan dropping their last one to BC.

As the Bombers look to extend their winning streak to 3 games they will look to get help from those coming back off of injury.

Bryant, Demski, Cole, Oliveira, and both of the Hallett brothers will be on the roster this week.

The Bombers are facing a Saskatchewan team that is working through their own injuries.

For a second straight week, Saskatchewan will be without their starting quarterback, Trevor Harris, due to a knee injury. Also not facing Winnipeg will be former Bomber Hardrick. He suffered a quad injury and will require surgery for that injury. I know the players and the fans would have loved to watch that matchup.

So while Saskatchewan looks ripe for the picking, the Bombes better not be too confident. When Winnipeg and Saskatchewan play anything can happen. However, this should prove to be a good chance for Winnipeg to get to 3-4, while having Saskatchewan fall to 4-2. With Calgary facing BC later this weekend, that could put Winnipeg back in the running.

For the Bombers to win this game there are things that they absolutely must do, and things that they just cannot do.

Must Do

1. The Bombers must continue to move the ball downfield in the air. It will be interesting to see to what degree the Bombers go to Ontaria Wilson this game. They do not need to go to him 16 times two weeks in a row. In fact, if Saskatchewan hones in on Wilson, that should open up some other deep shots. Regardless, the Bombers need to stretch the field.

2. The Bombers must make sure to take care of the football. On special teams, and on offence they simply must hold onto the ball! They would also benefit themselves greatly by creating some turnovers.

Cannot Do

1. The Bombers cannot turn the ball over.

2. The Bombers cannot lose the time of possession battle.

3. The Bombers cannot get into penalty trouble or take penalties that extend Saskatchewan’s drives.

Should the Bombers do and not do those things, they will put themselves into a good spot to get win number 3.
