B.C. Lions: The BC Lions are coming off a tough 17-19 loss to Edmonton that had a terrible start when Nathan Rourke sustained an injury to his left shoulder early in the game. Chase Brice went on to complete 20 of 34 passes for 226 yards with 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions. The run game was limited, with James Butler managing just 4 yards on 7 carries and Zander Horvath adding 11 yards and a touchdown. The Lions will be without Rourke this week due to the shoulder injury, and Chase Brice will get the start.
Toronto Argonauts: The Toronto Argonauts are coming off a close 23-24 loss to Hamilton. Chad Kelly completed 25 of 35 passes for 322 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Samuel Hicks was efficient on the ground despite Toronto seldom going to the run game, as he picked up 47 rushing yards on 7 carries.
Lions' Keys to the Game
Protect the Football
Chase Brice threw 4 interceptions last week. That is not a winning ingredient.
Get the Run Game Going
James Butler and Zander Horvath were held in check last week as they combined for 15 yards on 11 carries. BC has got to find a way to provide run support for Brice.
Win the Secondary Battle
The Lions secondary will need to limit big plays from Toronto’s receiving corps while generating pressure on Chad Kelly.
Stop the Run
We’re still seeing tendencies out of Toronto that we saw last year of not running the football enough to be a multi-dimensional offense. If BC can get a couple run stops, they could likely see Toronto abandon the run.
5 Lions to Watch
7 QB Chase Brice
Bryce completed 20 of his 34 passes last week for 226 yards and 4 interceptions.
4 WR Keon Hatcher
Hatcher once again led the team in receiving as he caught 4 of his 5 targets for 81 yards and a touchdown.
85 WR Nick Cenacle
Cenacle caught all 5 of his targets last week for 62 yards.
90 DE Mathieu Betts
Betts picked up his 3rd sack of the season last week.
33 DB Jackson Findlay
Findlay led the team in tackles with 7 and added 2 special teams tackles.
5 Argonauts to Watch
12 QB Chad Kelly
Kelly is coming off a 322-yard performance with a touchdown and an interception. He has 2,126 yards and 15 touchdowns with 9 interceptions over 6 games.
82 WR Tyler Kahmann
Kahmann caught all 6 of his targets last week for 104 yards, breaking the century mark for the first time in his CFL rookie season.
86 WR Damonte Coxie
Coxie caught 5 of his 6 targets last week for 75 yards.
25 RB Samuel Hicks
Hicks has rushed 52 times for 314 yards (6.0 average) and 2 touchdowns so far this season.
99 DT Ralph Holley
Last week, Holley had 5 tackles, including his first sack of the season. He had 8 sacks in 2024 before signing with the Cleveland Browns.

Score Prediction:
I predict the Toronto Argonauts to win 27-23. BC has been having a tough time lately and needs to provide run support with Rourke out to help Brice find his footing, but Toronto has the 2nd fewest rushing yards allowed. It can be done, but it’s been an uphill battle for BC early this season.
