Chad Kelly has never lost to Saskatchewan, and the Argos need that trend to hold up if they want to keep pace in a jammed East race.

Game Details

Odds

  • Spread: Saskatchewan Roughriders -4
  • Moneyline: Toronto Argonauts +170, Saskatchewan Roughriders -210
  • Over/Under: 62

Toronto sits at 5-5 against the spread this season with four overs and six unders, while Saskatchewan is 5-4-1 ATS with an even 5-5 split on the total. Bettors have leaned toward the road dog in this one, but the Riders being favored at home against a team they've lost three straight to says plenty about how shaky Saskatchewan's been lately.

Overview

This is a rematch of one of the wildest games of the season. Back in Week 4, the Argonauts and Roughriders combined for 730 passing yards and outlasted each other in a 40-34 Toronto win. Both quarterbacks were slinging it that night, and there's no reason to think Saturday looks much different, especially with the over sitting at a hefty 62.

Toronto arrives off a statement win, blasting Hamilton 39-20 at BMO Field behind three touchdown passes from Kelly, who also crossed 10,000 career passing yards in the process. That snapped a two-game split and pushed the Argos back to .500 and firmly into the East mix. Saskatchewan, meanwhile, is stuck in a funk. The Riders have dropped back-to-back games, including a 16-30 collapse at BC where penalties and turnovers did most of the damage — head coach Corey Mace pointed the finger at himself afterward, and it's fair to wonder if that same undisciplined football shows up again here. Saskatchewan hasn't lost three straight since 2024, so there's real motivation for a bounce-back, but Toronto has owned this series and Kelly is a perfect 4-0 in his career against this defense.

The numbers say this should be a shootout. Saskatchewan's defense has allowed the fewest touchdown drives (25) and the fewest big plays (18) in the league, but their offense has also had trouble putting teams away, and Trevor Harris has thrown an interception in bunches down the stretch. Toronto's group counters with five different receivers over 500 yards this season — the only offense in the league that can say that — which gives Kelly more answers than most quarterbacks staring down a stingy Riders secondary. Give the edge to Toronto here: better recent form, the head-to-head history, and a track record against this exact opponent that Saskatchewan hasn't found a way to solve.

Key Players

  • Chad Kelly (Toronto Argonauts, QB) — 3,226 yards and 21 touchdowns on the year, fresh off a three-TD night and a career milestone against Hamilton, and he's 4-0 lifetime versus Saskatchewan.
  • Trevor Harris (Saskatchewan Roughriders, QB) — 3,218 yards, 21 touchdowns, and at least one TD pass in every game this season, though he's just 6-6 in his career against Toronto.
  • Damonte Coxie (Toronto Argonauts, WR) — 51 catches for 797 yards and 4 scores, the headliner of an Argos receiving corps that's the deepest in the league.
  • KeeSean Johnson (Saskatchewan Roughriders, WR) — 67 receptions, 844 yards and 6 touchdowns, the clear top target for Harris on the outside.
  • Shawn Lemon (Toronto Argonauts, DL) — has recorded a sack in each of his four games played and sits one off the league lead, a real problem for a Riders line trying to protect Harris.

Keys to the Game

  • Toronto needs Kelly to keep spreading the ball around and avoid the kind of turnovers that sank them in the Edmonton loss.
  • The Argos' pass rush, led by Lemon and Jonathan Kongbo, has to make Harris uncomfortable and force the kind of mistakes Saskatchewan's been prone to lately.
  • Toronto can't let this game get sloppy on special teams or penalties — the Riders have beaten themselves twice in a row, and the Argos should let them keep doing it rather than matching that undisciplined football.

Score Prediction

Toronto Argonauts 29 - Saskatchewan Roughriders 33. Take the total to hit — both quarterbacks have shown they can carve up this matchup — but Saskatchewan's home-field edge and a defense that limits big plays gives them just enough to cover as the four-point favorite, even with Toronto owning the recent history in this series.
