The 2026 CFL News Hub Power Rankings – the Aftermath of Week 6.

With Week 6 in the books, football fans were delighted to witness some entertaining football games. Edmonton went on a tear vs. Ottawa in a 40-17 blowout win. Winnipeg defeated the visiting Argos 30-21 to improve to a respectable 3-2 record. It was a good showdown between Calgary and Montreal, with Montreal coming out on top with a 37-30 victory. For the final game of the week, it was Saskatchewan that laid the hammer to the Hammer with a 38-7 win over Hamilton.

Hello CFL Fans! Here are your CFL News Hub Power Rankings after Week 6.

1 – Edmonton Elks

Record: 4 – 1

Previous ranking: 2

The Elks were looking to rebound from their Week 5 loss in Kelowna, BC and did just that. The Elks began to shift and take full control in this game with visiting Ottawa after halftime. Justin Rankin, as always, went above and beyond, contributing to the Edmonton offence. More importantly, it was a balanced offensive attack with 107 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Javon Leake relieved some of the pressure off of Rankin, helping out with 85 yards rushing. Cody Fajardo played error-free football with no interceptions, 340 passing yards, and 2 touchdown passes. On the defensive side of the ball, Kordell Jackson was responsible for collecting 2 out of the 4 interceptions caused by Edmonton. Rookie linebacker Dariel Djabome had a great day with 7 tackles.

Next game: Friday, July 17th, 2026 vs. BC.

2 – Saskatchewan Roughriders

Record: 4 – 1

Previous ranking: 3

Saskatchewan was looking to prey on a team with a key quarterback injury towards Hamilton. Their game plan was more than effective. Hamilton was solid on their defence to begin the game. Coach Corey Mace had a game plan and executed it as textbook as could be. The 2nd half was complementary football with the defence setting up success for both special teams along with the offence. The Riders’ defence made it a long day for Jake Dolegala, as he was subpar, going 17 for 30 in completions, 122 passing yards, no touchdown passes, and a lone interception. By the 4th quarter, it was easy for Saskatchewan to ice the game by exploiting Hamilton's multiple miscues.

Next game: Saskatchewan will be on a bye in Week 7. Their next scheduled game will be on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, vs. Edmonton. This will be a must-see football game, as both football teams have been off to a solid start in 2026.

3 – Montreal Alouettes

Record: 4 – 1

Previous ranking: 1

Fans had a great feeling that this game vs. Calgary was not going to be led by the defence, but rather a high-octane offensive showdown by two teams that can light up a scoreboard. Davis Alexander, as always, showed a lot of character vs. Calgary, as did Veron Adams Jr. for Calgary. Both quarterbacks matched the pace of the game. For Montreal, it was a big game for Travis Theis with his best offensive performance, with 94 rushing yards and a lone touchdown. Tyson Philpot had a great day, contributing 132 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. However, the key for Montreal was the defence making key plays, or stalling a Calgary drive at the right place and at the right time. This was evident after the 1st half with Montreal holding a respectable 24-13 lead. Montreal has struggled defensively this season. On that note, what they did not do was allow Calgary to obtain full momentum. It was a bend but don’t break display by the Montreal defence. On the flip side, they came out on top when it mattered most.

Next game: Saturday, July 18th, 2026, in Calgary.

4 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Record: 3 – 2

Previous ranking: 5

With their home crowd behind them, the Blue Bombers were looking to take advantage of a great opportunity. And they did just that. The pressure of the defensive line was consistent and also set the tone of the game from the opening defensive series. Dru Brown played as good a game as you can ask for by any quarterback in the CFL, dissecting the Toronto defence with 25 out of 31 passes completed, 339 passing yards, 1 touchdown pass, and a lone interception. Receivers Ontaria Wilson, Nic Demski, Tim White, and Tommy Neild created a lot of problems for the Argonauts’ defensive coverage. On special teams, the one and only Trey Vaval was at his usual self with 181 total special teams yards.

Next game: Sunday, July 19th, 2026, in Ottawa.

5 – Calgary Stampeders

Record: 2 – 3

Previous ranking: 4

With the way both teams have played this season, it was a flip of the coin on who would win this game. Both Montreal and Calgary have been giving up a lot of points this season. As a prediction, it could also have been that whoever has the ball last will win this game, or which team will make the most important defensive play when it matters most. The outcome was slower than expected by Calgary entering the 2nd half. Then again, no lead is safe in the CFL for that matter, even entering the 4th quarter. It was a catch me if you can game for Montreal. Calgary was unable to cause a key turnover or two for the duration of the game. When the 2nd half arrived, Calgary had to play catch-up to score points, as Montreal never relinquished the lead in the game.

Next game: Saturday, July 18th, 2026, vs. Montreal.

6 – Toronto Argonauts

Record: 2 – 3

Previous ranking: 7

Some good things came out of this game for the Double Blue. Entering the loudest stadium in the CFL, the Blue Bombers defensive line caused a lot of problems for the Argonauts' offensive line. Chad Kelly still performed with some big plays to silence the Winnipeg faithful throughout the game. It looked like the comeback was there for the taking. Unfortunately for Toronto, Winnipeg forced Toronto into the passing game, as the running game was a non-factor. However, the resilience was still present, moving the ball with long drives to keep the game alive with the Toronto passing attack. It was eventually too little too late for the Argos. Derek Slywka played a big game with a 10-tackle game. Unfortunately, a costly ejection killed some of the momentum in the game by Argo’s playmaker Makai Polk.

Next game: Saturday, July 18th, 2026, in Hamilton.

7 – Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Record: 2 – 3

Previous ranking: 6

It is always difficult to have success when your leader goes down. With Bo Levi Mitchell one week removed from his unfortunate ankle injury in Week 5 vs. Winnipeg, the Tiger-Cats brass elected to start Jake Dolegala for their match vs. Saskatchewan. The Tiger-Cats defence kept the game close, entering halftime down 11-7. However, the Hamilton offence was unable to generate any real threat in the 1st half. By the time the 2nd half arrived, the inconsistencies never blossomed. Saskatchewan took control of the game with a stellar defensive performance, causing a lot of turnovers and never looked back.

Next game: Saturday, July 18th, 2026, vs. Toronto.

8 – BC Lions

Record: 1 – 3

Previous ranking: 8

BC was on a bye in Week 6. They will turn their undivided attention to Edmonton to meet with a impressive 4 – 1 Edmonton team.

Next game: Friday, July 17th, 2026, in Edmonton.

9 - Ottawa Redblacks

Record: 0 – 5

Previous ranking: 9

When the results are the same week to week for Ottawa, as has been the case this season, there is a lot of soul-searching to do. Trying to eliminate the goose egg in the win column, Ottawa was looking for a great opportunity to create an upset and begin to gain some confidence. Ottawa’s approach to start the game was pretty good, at least on the defensive side of the ball in the first half, where Ottawa’s defensive line created a lot of pressure, creating 3 sacks. This was something that was not seen against Edmonton this year, as they only gave up 3 sacks in the first 4 games prior. But then the reality kicked in. With the offensive struggles recurring, Edmonton simply exploited the lack of production by Ottawa. With only 25 yards rushing in the game, Ottawa switched to a one-dimensional offence solely on the passing game, and there was no answer for the Edmonton defence creating 4 interceptions.

Next game: Sunday, July 19th, 2026, vs. Winnipeg.

When your team is in striking distance in every game and is still 0-5, that's a coaching problem. Has he even put the 2nd string QB in the game yet? Ditto for the rushing attack, unless the backups are injured there should be more handles by the rest of the RB depth chart.
