The Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group announced Monday that Adrian Sciarra is out as president of the Ottawa Redblacks. The OSEG release said Sciarra will transition out of the role and that the search for a replacement begins now.

Sciarra remains with OSEG as president and alternate governor of the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Redblacks are 0-9.

What OSEG Said

CEO Mark Goudie addressed the decision in the release.

"Our fans have been patient and they deserve better. We are making this change because the REDBLACKS need dedicated football leadership focused entirely on building a winning program. Our priority is to find a football leader with the experience, the CFL connections and the track record to help rebuild this club into a perennial Grey Cup contender. That search begins today."

Goudie also addressed Sciarra's tenure.

"Adrian has been with OSEG since day one and has played an important role in building this organization from the ground up. His contributions extend well beyond football and hockey, including securing founding partnerships and naming rights sponsors while playing a key role in attracting and establishing relationships with the sports organizations that now call TD Place home. He is an important part of this organization, and I'm pleased that he will continue with us."

Managing partner and Redblacks governor Roger Greenberg addressed ownership's position.

"John Ruddy and I are committed to winning football in Ottawa and to building a football organization that will be here for the long term. That commitment is reflected in our investment in players, coaches, and facilities, and now in the new football leadership that we will bring to this club. We owe it to our fans and to this city to build a team that wins consistently, and that is exactly what we intend to do."

OSEG expects to have permanent executive leadership in place by the end of the calendar year.

Sciarra's Tenure

Sciarra joined OSEG in September 2013, months before the Redblacks played their first CFL season. He was named team president on February 17, 2023.

The Redblacks are 27-85-1 since the start of the 2019 season. They have made the playoffs once in that span, in 2024.

The Losing Streak

Ottawa has lost 15 straight games dating to the end of the 2025 season. CBC reported that the streak is the longest by any team since the modern CFL was formed in 1958, passing the 1994 Shreveport Pirates at 14.

The streak ranks third in the CFL record book, which dates to 1907. A loss to Montreal on Thursday would tie the 1948-49 Hamilton Wildcats at 16. Two Ottawa clubs lost a combined 25 straight between 1928 and 1932.

Ottawa is the 10th team in league history to start a season 0-9.

The club fired defensive coordinator Will Fields on August 1 and moved Jeff Reinebold from special teams to the defence. Details on that change are in our report on the Redblacks firing Will Fields.

Attendance at TD Place

Ottawa has averaged 15,124 across five home dates in 2026. That is down 16.6 percent from the club's 2025 home average of 18,136.

The Stadium Project

TD Place is part of Lansdowne 2.0, the redevelopment plan Ottawa city council approved in November 2025. The City of Ottawa put the project cost at $418.8 million, with a city net investment of $130.7 million.

The plan replaces the north-side stands, which date to 1967, with a new municipally owned structure seating 12,400. Total stadium capacity will sit above 23,000. The city has scheduled the north-side work for phase two, from November 2028 to 2030. A 6,600-seat event centre goes behind the east end zone in phase one, which runs to July 2028.

What Comes Next

Ottawa plays at Montreal on Thursday, August 20. Ryan Dinwiddie remains head coach, general manager and offensive coordinator.
