BC Lions have announced the signing of former NFL quarterback Danny Etling to their practice squad. This comes after they announced the release of former NFL QB Shea Patterson. Etling was a former 7th round draft pick in 2018, taken by the New England Patriots. He would spend two years on the Patriots’ practice squad, earning a Super Bowl ring during the process.
Following his release from New England, he was signed to the Falcons’ practice squad. In week 8 he would be called up to the active roster, following a Matt Ryan injury. After that season he would spend his time on the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings practice squad.
Danny Etling started out in Purdue, before ultimately transferring to LSU where he would lead them to an appearance in the Citrus Bowl. During his two seasons at LSU, he passed for 4,586 yards, 27 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and had a quarterback rating of 144.4.
The BC Lions will host the Ottawa REDBLACKS this Saturday, September 11th at 10:00 PM EST.
