BC Lions Sign RB Zander Horvath, Former LA Charger, Purdue Alumni

The BC Lions announced the signing of running back Zander Horvath on Friday.

Horvath (6’3, 230 lbs) spent three years in the NFL after being selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022 in the 7th round 260th overall. Horvath played in 15 games in 2022 which saw him rush just 4 carries for 8 yards over the season. He also caught 5 passes 2 of which were for touchdowns for a total of 8 yards.

Horvath was released following the 2023 training camp. He spent time on the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad before later returning to the Chargers practice squad following his release from Pittsburgh. He signed with the New Orleans Saints this past March but was waived midway through training camp and spent the rest of training camp with the Miami Dolphins before being waived amid final cuts.

He played in 38 games over his collegiate career with Purdue which saw him rush 268 times for 1,181 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and 8 touchdowns. He also caught 68 passes for 592 yards and a touchdown. He was named Academic All-Big Ten in each of his 4 seasons with Purdue.
