WINNIPEG, MB.- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with Canadian receiver Drew Wolitarsky.
Wolitarsky is a six-foot-two, 225 wide receivers selected by the Bombers in 2017 in one of the CFL’s Supplemental Drafts out of Minnesota University. The Bombers forfeited a third-round pick in the 2018 CFL Draft to select Wolitarsky, who was added to the practice roster.
At the University of Minnesota, Wolitarsky finished his career at Minnesota with 130 catches (tied for eighth all-time in Gophers history) and 1,749 yards receiving (ninth all-time in Gophers history). As a senior in 2016, he played in all 13 games and set a career-high in catches (66) and touchdowns (five). His 66 receptions ranked tied for second all-time as a senior. These accolades lauded him to be named an All-Big Ten Third-Team All-Star, an Academic All-Big Ten in 2014.
Following his time with the Golden Gophers, Wolitarsky was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft and had an unsuccessful tryout with the Minnesota Vikings. His brother, Austin, encouraged him to pursue a career in the Canadian Football League where he could qualify as a National player with Canadian citizenship since his mother was from Montreal.
Wolitarsky will be coming back for his fifth season in the CFL and with the Blue Bombers.
During that time he totaled 54 total games played for 111 receptions for 1,412 yards scoring 10 TD
“That’s why I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else,” he added. “I told my agent, ‘Listen, man, I’ll be honest with you: I don’t want to play anywhere else.’ I couldn’t imagine going to a new city and losing all my friends and connections, losing that sense of ‘this is my team.’ I know the staff here, I know this offense… it would have felt like transferring colleges. I’ve felt so connected to this group and this organization that going somewhere else had me thinking, ‘Do I want to do that on another team?’ I didn’t want to do that against my guys.”

Drew’s running style reminds me of Cooper Kupp. He creates separation and gets open in tight windows. Very disciplined. Also, a good blocker. He adds great value to the team.
