Stampeders Secure Bell for Continuity on Offensive Line
The Calgary Stampeders have secured the services of National offensive lineman Bryce Bell with a two-year contract extension, the team announced. This deal will see Bell remain with the team until the end of the 2025 Canadian Football League season, avoiding his potential free agency in February.
“It’s been a great experience these last few years, learning about football in Western Canada. For that, I am thankful to my teammates, the coaches, and the fans,” stated Bell. “I’m eager to contribute to the Stampeders’ pursuit of championship success.”
Stamps’ General Manager and head coach Dave Dickenson expressed confidence in Bell’s growth, acknowledging his effectiveness on the field and his anticipated role in the team’s progress.
Bryce Bell’s Impact on the Stampeders
In the 2023 season, Bell appeared in 12 regular-season games, making nine starts in various positions across the offensive line. His performance was a key factor in an offensive line that allowed a mere 24 sacks, ranking as the third-lowest total in the league.
Bell also made a significant contribution in the postseason, starting the Western Semi-Final at right tackle. His adaptability has been evident with starts at left tackle, right tackle, and center since being drafted by the Stampeders.
Bell’s Journey from Wilfrid Laurier University to the CFL
Before his professional career, Bell was no stranger to success on the football field, playing 26 games over four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University. His college career included 16 starts at right tackle.
Selected as a second-round pick by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2021 CFL Draft, Bell has since dressed for 43 regular-season encounters and three playoff games. His tenure with the Stampeders has demonstrated his reliability and capability in the Canadian Football League.
